Determine Disinfection Byproducts in Potable Water reliably using Ion Chromatography

Authorities ensure access to safe drinking water to the local population. During the disinfection process of water it produces by products which are harmful to Humans beyond certain threshold. As per local regulation Chlorate, Chlorite & Bromate has a maximum residual level of 700 µg/l & 10 µg/l in drinking water respectively.

Metrohm Ion Chromatography

Ion Chromatography

Determining Anions & Oxyhalides reliably at such low level requires an extremely stable baseline combined with low background conductivity. Metrohm IC using Sequential Suppressor and advanced Conductivity detector can achieve lowest detection limits with extremely good sensitivity, specificity & precision for all the Anions including Oxyhalides as per EPA 300.1 A&B.

Alternatively for lowest detection complying to ISO 11206 limit a UV detector can be used with Post column reactor for selective estimation of only Bromate down to 0.5 µg/l.

Key Features of Metrohm IC

  • Anion Suppressor is warranted for 10 years from manufacturer. No further investment in suppressor once IC has been procured. This translates into lower running cost.
  • Automation- Inline Ultrafiltration using 0.22 micron filter coupled with Inline Dilution or Partial Loop injection and many other features helps in automating the routine steps which otherwise requires manual intervention.
  • IC hardware with three years manufacturer warranty.
  • Intelligent components for traceability, maintenance feedback for GLP.
  • 10 years guaranteed availability of spare parts after an instrument series has been discontinued.
