The group type analysis of heavier hydrocarbon stream is always a challenge. The challenge is mainly because of complexity of the hydrocarbon mixture, and it is very difficult to separate in conventional gas chromatography (GC). Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) coupled with a flame ionization detector (FID) will solve the challenge by providing excellent separation of the groups.
